In 1776, Representatives of the original thirteen colonies assembled and wrote the Declaration of Independence. With this document, our founding fathers proclaimed to the world that America was a democratic republic:

“We hold these truths to be self evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness.”

Ironically, that same year Alexander Fraser Tytler, a European historian published The Decline and Fall of the Athenian Republic. In his publication, Tytler reported that from his research he had determined the following:

“A democracy cannot exist as a permanent form of government. It can only exist until the voters discover they can vote themselves largesse from the public treasury. From that moment on, the majority always votes for the candidates promising them the most benefits from the public treasury, with the result that a democracy always collapses over a loss of fiscal responsibility, always followed by a dictatorship. The average of the world’s great civilizations before they decline has been 200 years. These nations have progressed in this sequence:

From bondage to spiritual faith,
From spiritual faith to great courage,
From courage to liberty,
From liberty to abundance,
From abundance to selfishness,
From selfishness to complacency,
From complacency to apathy,
From apathy to dependency,
From dependency back again to bondage.”

If Tytler’s conclusion is correct, America has now exceeded the average length for a democratic form of government by 42 years.

Henry Wallace, Roosevelt’s Vice President from 1941 to 1945, also wrote that he had observed the beginning of a slide into Despotism and Socialism within the attitudes of Washington’s elite. According to Wallace, well-intended leaders with personal agendas would precipitate the loss of individual freedoms:

“So enlisted, men may rightfully feel they are serving a function as high as that of any minister of the Gospel. They will not be Socialists, Communists, or Fascists, but plain men trying to gain by democratic methods the professed objectives of the Communists, Socialists, and Fascists…”

Likewise, in 1944 Norman Mattoon Thomas espoused Wallace’s theory with his prophesy of the fall of American democracy—and the mechanism that would be used:

“The American people will never knowingly adopt socialism. But under the name of ‘liberalism,’ they will adopt every fragment of the socialist program, until one day America will be a socialist nation, without knowing how it happened. I need no longer run as a Presidential Candidate for the Socialist Party. The Democratic Party has adopted our platform.”

TODAY

In 2009, many Americans are experiencing an epiphany. We have been startled out of our complacency as questionable and expensive legislation has become law with minimal debate. As we’ve begun questioning the logic behind the legislation and the enormous spending authorizations, we have discovered the President, Senators and House Representatives cannot provide suitable answers. As we probe more, we are learning that our representatives are following another’s personal agenda rather than ours.

Moreover, we have started to rebel when confronted with the understanding that our leaders in Washington are attempting to force a single payer (government) health care system on us. This rebellion deepens as leaders ignore the fact that 90% of all US citizens already have health insurance, that 84% like their current health insurance and are not in favor of a government take-over of health insurance (270M Americans of the 300M total have insurance, 252M like their insurance—leaving only about 30M without insurance.)

And that’s what I’d like to see…. first we have to take back the White House, we have to take back the Senate, and we have to take back the House.” Barack Obama – 2003

NOTE: We now know that the government’s claim that 48M people could not get health care insurance was intentional misinformation. In truth, only about 12M people cannot get health insurance. The balance are either not eligible (not US citizens), or are eligible but have chosen to not purchase it.

Regardless, to pay for universal health legislation the government proposes to raise taxes on the rich and middle class. When this is put in proper context using IRS records, we discover that of the +/-300M (million) people in America, the richest 1.4M already pay 40% of the IRS taxes—and the next 134M people (middle class) pay the remaining 60%. Therefore, the majority of Americans (164M) are not contributing to the IRS coffers—but they are voting—and as Tytler predicted, are voting themselves largesse from the public treasury.

We’ve also discovered that legislation is not being read prior to voting—and that by design, legislation is lengthy and incoherent due to pork-barrel amendments and special interest entitlements being added for placating the opposition, e.g. bribing them for a Yes vote. As a result, many of the pre-packaged, spin answers and comments only alarmed us more.

Ultimately, we are realizing that the new administration’s promised “change” looked more and more like a coup d’état, e.g. a government takeover just as Henry Wallace and Norman Mattoon Thomas predicted. Moreover, the government’s “change” methodology is straight from history—and diabolical.

Our anger has become public during the town hall meetings being held across America this month. In an attempt to mitigate the impact of our combined voices and implement political damage control, government leaders brand us as a fringe right-wing element, sending out their loyalists to silence our questions and openly attempting to intimidate us in the name of Democracy.

“This is a scary time in Washington… It’s a very frightening time. I see Barack Obama is creating an enemies list of people who oppose this miserable health care plan. I think that’s frightening. That’s from a guy that can’t even show a long-form birth certificate. I think we all ought to be prepared to fight that.” Rep. John Sullivan (R-Okla.)

“They are just helping us understand the fringe that is trying to mess up our meetings.” Harry Reid, Senate Majority Leader (D-Nev.).

“If you get hit, we will punch back twice as hard.” Jim Messina, White House Deputy Chief of Staff

“These disruptions are occurring because opponents are afraid not just of differing views — but of the facts themselves. Drowning out opposing views is simply un-American.” Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.), Speaker of the House and Steny Hoyer (D-Md.), House Majority Leader.

“With lobbyist-backed GOP mobs working to shut down town hall meetings on health reform with members of Congress, labor and progressive groups are fighting back on several fronts. The orchestrated mob scenes have already led to reported death threats against at least one congressman and new outbreaks of violence.” Art Levine

However, the intimidating threats of our leaders backfired when it exposed their ignorance and contempt of the law—and this realization coalesced our mounting opposition.

CONCLUSION

All indicators point toward the fact that democracy in America has progressed along Alexander Fraser Tytler’s cycle as he predicted—and our form of democracy is now starting its slide into dependency on a socialistic government. If this slide is allowed to continue, the next step will be bondage (dictatorship)—as both Wallace and Thomas predicted.

Moreover, the vision of our current President and his agenda supporters in Congress is to “change” America into a government controlled socialistic state. More importantly, they are fully aware that forcing Universal Health Care on all Americans is a huge step in accelerating the slide into Socialism.

However, Americans are starting to wake up to the threat that their liberty will be lost if the government succeeds in its socialistic agenda to transform opportunities-for-all into guarantees-for-all. We now understand that such a change only encourages more government tampering—which justifies more governmental infringements—until ultimately all our rights will be replaced by government-sanctioned privileges.

GOING FORWARD

The immediate hope for America is for Americans to once again declare their independence of the elite despot ruling class. To accomplish this, YOU must make it crystal clear to all your elected representatives and officials, i.e. President, US Senators and Representatives, Governor, State Senators and Representatives, etc. that you hold them accountable for any/all socialistic legislation and actions that facilitate America’s slide toward dependency and bondage. It is imperative that YOU make them believe that the consequence for ignoring your mandate is their removal from office at the first opportunity.
